James offers 1-to-1 lessons in jazz improvisation and composition from his home in Walthamstow, London. He also teaches general musicianship, composition, jazz and brass at a number of educational institutions including Saffron Centre for Young Musicians, Hockerill Anglo-European College and Newham Music. James is also active as a workshop leader, particularly using jazz, group composition and fusions of musical styles.  He has led workshops for the University of the 3rd AgeCambridge Music Outreach (CaMEO), The Beat Orchestra, Cambridgeshire Music and the Cambridge Jazz Co-op.  Additionally, he spent over a year working for Britten Sinfonia as Creative Learning Assistant, helping to manage and deliver an ambitious programme of workshops and schemes to help people of many ages, backgrounds and musical abilities to engage with and enjoy music more fully, and he previously completed an internship with CaMEO.
